Bilingual Immigration & Mediation Services of Indiana (BIMS), is a not-for-profit organization that provides multilingual civic education, mediation services in several areas, and aid in immigration matters to Indiana citizens. BIMS provides multilingual aid to those for whom language is a barrier, to those who cannot afford it, and to those who are not serviced through other individuals or organizations.
Christian Gallo, is the fourth generation of a family of Lawyers. He continues a tradition cultivated through a law firm established in the 1800’s in Argentina, where he graduated from the School of Law and Social Sciences, at the Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA) in Buenos Aires. Christian lived in several countries of South America. He worked as a lawyer for multinational companies, was in charge of the legal department of a multinational consulting firm, and he gained extensive mediation knowledge while providing services for leading multinational insurance companies. In 2002 he came to Indiana, where he earned a Master’s Degree in American Law (LL.M) at Indiana University, Indianapolis, while working for Indiana’s Judicial Districts 4 and 5 Pro Bono Committees, and Indiana Legal Services.
Sandra Hyland was born in Ames Iowa. She studied Molecular Biology in Argentina, and in 2002 she came to Indiana, where she continued her studies at Purdue University. She worked on a thesis in Food Science and also worked at Purdue University Farm for a period of time. Sandra has always been involved with the Lafayette Community. She is currently a member of the Tippecanoe Community Health Clinic Board of Directors, and works for the Lafayette Adult Resource Academy (LARA) as an ESL teacher. She also has worked as Outreach Coordinator for the Lafayette Adult Resource Academy (LARA), encouraging the Hispanic population to improve their education and learn English as their second language. Every job has had the same objective: helping minority groups to effectively participate in their community through employment and public institutions. |
